News just in from America regarding the AKC Best Bitch in Conformation Competition Standings for Competition January through June, 2006:

Given the number of bitches shown in America, to have 2 in the top 6 is a fantastic achievement and proves once again the quality produced by Robert Russell at Parnassus and Art and Barbara at Kwetu. We are very proud that Robert has allowed us to have Herc here in Australia and his progeny, although still very young, have impressed Australian and international judges with awards such as:

In the UK, there are only 25 shows in a year at which RRs can obtain CCs and they need 3 CCs to gain their English title. Consequently the shows at which CCs are available are very hotly contested and the competition is very strong, often with over 100 RRs entered.
Way to go Sharon and Sam!

11-14 May
What a fantastic weekend in 3 different countries!!!
News just in from England:
Fudge (Sonstraal Christmas Eve at Kazval JW) takes out RESERVE EXHIBIT IN SHOW at the huge Birmingham National All Breeds Show held 11 - 14 May 2006.
Huge congratulations to Frank Whyte (handler & co/owner with Christine Young), and Sharron Rossiter and Anthea Fox, Sonstraal RRs (breeders of Fudge).
Fudge is a daughter of our homebred boy, BIS Aust Ch Chilolo CJ Someday Sam (litter brother to RUBISS Ch Chilolo CJ Chicken Ripple) so we are really excited by this win which is believed to be the biggest win ever by a RR bitch in the UK.
Here are the statistics for the show:
102 Ridgebacks entered - judge was Mrs J Peak - Fudge was Best of Breed.
Approx. 1,750 hounds in the Hound Group - judge was Mrs D Courtney - Fudge was Best Exhibit in Group.
Approx 13,000 (yes that's right - thirteen thousand!) dogs entered at the show - General Specials judge was Mr B Cadogan - Fudge was RUNNER UP BEST IN SHOW.
So, just to make the show interesting, Fudge and Frank had to get past 3 different judges. What a fantastic win!
Hopefully a photo will be here soon. This win also gave Fudge her English Championship title at just 19 months of age!
Huge congratulations to Sharon, Anthea, Frank, Christine and of course Fudge and her dad Sam and mum Christmas!
And in the USA:
Congratulations to Teresa West whose bitch, Ekundu of Parnassus went Best of Breed and Group 4 in Iowa. Ekundu is a half sister to Herc.
Also, Carly of Parnassus by Kwetu (full sister to Herc) has taken best bitch all days in the well-attended Madison, Wisconsin shows, with one of the 3 days going Best of Breed.
And here in Australia:

Beansy (Ch Chilolo Eternity Ring) takes out BEST EXHIBIT IN HOUND GROUP and as if that wasn't enough, our new baby, Whisper, was awarded BEST BABY PUPPY IN HOUND GROUP AND BEST BABY PUPPY IN SHOW.
Whisper behaved like a veteran and never put a foot wrong which was amazing for her first show. She is sired by Herc (Am Ch Hercules of Parnassus Imp USA) and her mum is Sheba (Deserhunter Sheba).
My sincere thanks once again to Anne Christie, Deserthunter RRs, for letting me borrow Sheba for this stunning litter she produced to Herc.

Just heard today that Parnassus is the ONLY breeder in the USA to have 3 RRs in the Top 25. They are Ekundu of Parnassus, Thor of Parnassus, and Ruru-ti of Parnassus.
All of these are owner handled so this is a fantastic achievement.
Congratulations Robert!
We are very proud to be a part of the Parnassus team with Am Ch Hercules of Parnassus here in Australia.

News from Crufts in the UK
Super congratulations to RESERVE BEST RR BITCH 2006 CRUFTS: SONSTRAAL CHRISTMAS EVE AT KAZVAL (Fudge) owned by Mr F H Young & Ms C A Whyte and bred by Sharon Rossiter and Anthea Fox, Sonstraal Kennels in Scotland.
Fudge is sired by our home bred boy, BIS AUST CH CHILOLO CJ SOMEDAY SAM. Fudge won the Yearling Bitch class at Crufts and there were over 90 bitches entered in total so it was a fantastic win - especially for one so young.
Fudge was also Number 1 RR Puppy in the UK for 2005.

Today we went to a lure coursing event run by the Warwick Lure Coursing Club. Biko loves it as you can see from these pics. He scored 170 which was the highest Ridgeback score of the day. We also took our Pharaoh Hounds, Pippa (BISS Aust Ch Lahej High Flyer) and Star (Aust Ch Lehej Suntorri Star (iid)). Pippa beat Star for the fastest Pharaoh, but not by much. They were both very impressive with their speed and were very keen to chase.

Herc takes another BEST OF BREED at Allora Kennel Club Show and Beansy (Ch Chilolo Eternity Ring) takes out CHALLENGE BITCH and RUNNER UP BEST OF BREED. Thanks to Belinda Mitchell (Hungarian Viszlas) for handling Beansy for me. Judge was Mrs P MacDonald from New South Wales and Best in Group came from Open Class which unfortunately eliminated Herc from any possible group placements.

Herc's second litter arrives with some drama. Sox (Ch Chilolo CP Akobi Gold) needed a ceasarian as the first puppy was huge and she was unable to deliver it. Unfortunatley it was dead. This is the first ceasarian we have ever had. Soxy is doing fine and is enjoying motherhood for the last time. She has 6 gorgeous new babies to look after and they are all doing really well. All have ridges with lovely definition and huge fan tops. Baby pics will be on the web site soon.
