31 December
Julie took Joey to the shows at Durack over the past few days. Joey was Best of Breed and placed 4th in the Group of about 140 hounds at the first show, Best of Breed and the second show and Challenge Dog at the third show. Really pleased with him.
31 December
Also on New Year's Eve Simone took Lulu (Chilolo CHS Binofee) who is a sister to Peaches, to a show at Atherton and they were awarded BEST IN HOUND GROUP. This is an amazing achievement because it is the first show ever for Simone and also for Lulu. Lulu apparently behaved so well and, as you can see from the pic, she took no time at all to relax after the show. I am so proud of both of them. Super congratulations!!!

18 December
Today I collected two Nigerian Dwarf goats from Brisbane airport. They were flown up to us from Melbourne and once home, they settled in quickly. Lisa and Carmen are both about 3 years old and hopefully will kid in April. They joined the two young doelings, Acacia and Botanica, we bought the previous day so we know have 4 gorgeous little goats. Nigerian Dwarfs are the smallest of the dairy breeds and have the best temperaments.
|
4/5 December
Dog shows are finally back on after a long covid period and Julie and Joey went to Bundaberg. They did really well with 2 x Best of Breed awards at the 2 shows.
|
2 December
I wish they could all live forever.
Just received this email from James and Megan who had Bosley, born 7 January 2007 so he would have been 14 next month. Bosley was a litter brother to our girl Martini.
"Hi Rosemary, Just a quick note to let you know we sadly had to say goodbye to Bosley yesterday. His health had got the better of him. It was a very peaceful send off, and he was very happy prior with a whole chicken and a caramellow koala for his last meal. The family are still very upset. Don't realise how big of a void they leave until they are gone. So many great memories. Thanks for giving us our beautiful boy."
Regards, James & Megan"

31 October
Maziri lives near Canberra with Lynne who says:
Have attached some photos. "He is doing very well and in round 2 of puppy class. He is a quick learner. Very social with people and other dogs. Loves a challenge, is very confident and often quite bold. Regards Lynne"
18 October
An update from Shannon on her ChatterSol baby, Zoey.
"Thank you Rosemary! Zoey is amazing! It's like she has just always been here! She is constantly making us laugh with her quirky personality. So far no digging and not too much chewing other than her toys but our biggest challenge is her trying to be the boss! Mostly with Will!!
She certainly is a strong willed little pup. She is obsessed with birds and will sit and watch them for ages. She came across her first pelican today and sat staring for a good 5 minutes. Have had a session with Michelle On loose lead walking and she has a wealth of information for us.
Great to see so many siblings on the coast, will have to organise a meet up at some stage. I'll attach some recent pics. Thanks again and hope you're well. Shannon, Dave and Will"
18 October
Ditto and her son, Kenny, are so funny in the evenings. She will give him a proper clean by licking his ears, face and mouth and then the roles reverse and he cleans her. All while granma Kali watches with disinterest!
18 October
Bubbles and her mum, Bling, are the best of friends as mums and daughters should be! And Bubbles, at nearly 8 months, just loves to "help" in the garden.
|
17 October
Congratulations to Stephen and Ranger who were awarded Best of Breed in Western Australia today. They are lucky to have shows to go to!! Ranger is from our Image - Solar litter.
Such a pretty photo of Obi! Obi is a litter sister to Peaches and Maziri and is from our ChatterSol litter born 20 June. She lives with Chris near Nambour who says:
"Hi Rosemary, hope all is well with you. An update on Obi at 17 weeks today. She is doing amazingly well. At the river this morning, learning to like the water, slowly. She is training really well and not as dependent as we thought she might be."
15 October
Lovely to see this koala on our daily run this morning. Luckily he/she was high in the tree so the dogs didn't notice him.
11 October
Marusia takes out Best of Breed in Adelaide today. Marusia is about 18 months old and is a daughter of our Nikki. She is owned/handled by Jana and is getting close to becoming an Australian Champion. So nice to see Nikki's progeny doing well in the show rings.
|
16 October
A couple of casual pics of our girls. Bubbles, at 7 months, with our old girl, Martini, who will be 14 in January, waiting for snacks after dinner.
Poor starving puppies LOL Bling and her daughter, Bubbles, sound asleep at the end of the day.
|
16 October
This is Maziri, litter brother to Peaches, from our ChatterSol litter born 20 June so he is about 3 months old and looking really lovely.
He lives in Canberra with Lynne and will be shown from time to time by Helen who bred Solar, Maziri's dad. Look forward to watching him grow and develop.

08 October
Received this message today from Kate who has Mavis in Sydney. Mavis if from our "DitMick" (Ditto - Mickey) litter born 1 July this year.
" Hi Rosemary, Mavis is settling in beautifully - she has so much character, typical ridgeback is wary of new things initially but we are desensitising her and she is growing in confidence every day! She is perfect in her crate at night - take herself to bed at about 9:30 - 10 and after a final pee sleeps till 6:30 (happy days!).
Day time crate is a whole other story - not at all great, separation anxiety is real and even though we commit to a short period of being alone every day she is not getting better so we are back to 15 mins blocks and hopefully growing from there!
Its hard having Stanley not crated as he wanders about winding her up! Overall she is doing so well, trains so easily and is eager to please. We love her, so thank you for letting her join our family"

06 October
Very happy to announce that we have just received some frozen semen from the USA from a dog called Manny (US Grand Champion Lionlamb's Dark Horse).
I met this gorgeous boy at the US RR National show in 2019 when he won the Top 25 Competition against the cream of the US RRs.
He is a lovely type, sound as a bell with a wonderful temperament so we are looking forward to seeing what he can produce over our girls.
|
06 October
Cobber has settled in really well with Charlene and Tony!! He is from the "DitMick" litter (Ditto and Mickey)
|

Funny how RRs like to sit up on something and tables are ideal. This is Lily from our Tikki - Solar litter born November 2017 and living with Mark and his family in Melbourne.
Mark says "She is a good looking Ridgey!! She does think she is human though and is very bossy. This is new now sitting on the table watching the boys on the trampoline. She is a bit of a mother bear with her boys she likes to know where they are and be with them. Look out anyone that gets between her and her boys!! "

Sad news today from the Donna and Andrew in Wollongong. They bought Mya from our Whisper - Dudley litter born 15 May 2010:
"Dear Rosemary it is with a very sad heart that we announce the passing of Mya. She was everything a ridgeback should be,loyal, loving, and trustworthy.
We have had just over 10yrs of magic and we feel the loss, she was a true member of our family. We would like to thank you for the perfect match because that's what it was.
Regards Andrew and Donna
P.S if we do get another dog it will be a ridgeback."
Thank you Donna and Andrew for giving Mya such a lovely home.

16 September
Lovely message received today from Roger and Julieann in NSW who purchased Zali from our Ditto-Mickey litter born 1 July.
It was very difficult to find suitable transport for Zali but we managed and she travelled really well and has obviously settled in to a wonderful home!
Such a pretty puppy! "Hi Rosemary We love Zali more than we ever thought possible! She is so beautiful in every way! We can't thank you enough!!!"

Poor Lincoln had a benign growth removed recently and has come through the operation with flying colours.
Brookfield Veterinary Surgery posted this "Loveable Lincoln is feeling much better after this 6.8kg mass was removed from inside his abdomen by Drs. Charlie and Max a few weeks ago .
The Best news was that it was a benign mass that is now no longer compressing his other organs." Poor boy!!

Perhaps the most amazing "ChatterSol" puppy is Pearla. She is living with Anthony and his family on the north side of Brisbane.
The day Anthony came to collect Pearla, I messaged him that evening to see how the 3 hour car trip home had been. His response was "She was an angel. Slept the whole way.
When we got her home, she went up to my disabled 9 year old boy on the floor and sniffed and licked him. She then snuffled into his neck and went to sleep. It was one of the most beautiful things I have even seen. Thank you Rosemary."
Anthony has a lovely daughter, Ruby, who is also a big part of Pearla's new family.

There have been no dog shows since March due to covid but we have been very busy with 2 litters of puppies. The "ChatterSols" (mum is Chatter and dad is Solar) were born 20 June and have now all gone to their homes. We are absolutely blessed to have such responsible families happy to take our puppies and give them wonderful homes. Here are some of them.

This lovely youngster is a grandson of our gorgeous boy, Trio (Supreme Ch Chilolo EB Show No Mercy) and he is shown going Best of Winners at a show in the USA.
He was bred by Rosemary Marnoch and it is lovely to see dogs from our bloodlines holding their own in the international show rings.

I received this sad email from Vicki and Mike in Brisbane today.
" Hi Rosemary, I just wanted to let you know that we lost our beautiful Coco to lymphoma last Tuesday. She was fine health wise up to about her 10th birthday in May this year, then we noticed her having a few issues. Initially, blood tests showed nothing abnormal, but we eventually had to get scans/x-rays which revealed the source of her problems.
She was such a great companion and protector - we loved her dearly and miss her terribly. The house is so empty without her. With thanks for bringing her into our lives. Vicki, Mike and Aidan".
Coco was from our Whisper - Dudley litter born 15 May 2010 and this is the only photo I have of her taken at 8 weeks of age.

4 July
Today I received the sad news that Bentley had passed away. Bentley (Ch Chilolo WC Red Hot Bentley) was born 4 February 2008 from Whisper and Cracker and lived all his 12 years with Charlotte and Alan who adored him.
On 4 July Charlotte wrote
"Hi Rosemary, I have some sad news. Bentley is no longer with us. There was nothing wrong with him except old age. For the past few days, he slept most of the time and liked to spend the day outside in the sun, or sleeping in his bed in our bedroom so we could make sure he was comfortable all the time. I cannot thank you enough for letting us share our life with this beautiful boy. He was just the best. It feels like he is still here. I close my eyes and he is laying next to me on the couch with his head in my lap, just looking at me. We miss him so much, our beautiful boy."

Always lovely to have updates on how our puppies are doing.
Shannon and Will in Western Australia are enjoying their boy, Timba, from our Herc - Holly litter:
"Hi Rosemary, Thanks for checking in, we are all doing well over here in WA. Oh we have 1000s of pictures of Timba.
We just purchased this knit jumper for him as he's starting to get a bit cold in the mornings. He loves going to the beach and socialising with all the dogs!! I hope Timbas brothers and sisters are all going well.
Regards Shannon and Will"

Jacquie had a scare with her boy Tyson luckily the results are good. Tyson is from our Bling / Dudley litter born June 2016. "Results confirmed the vet removed all the cancerous cells around the tumours from Tyson and there's nothing in the lymph nodes, heart or lungs.
He's recovering well and nearly back to his goofy self.
To say I'm relieved is an understatement."
|
17 May
I have just realised that the last dog show we went to at Murwillumbah was on 13 and 14 March and I have not put any results up which is really slack considering Joey won BEST IN SHOW on the 13th!!!
It is always a thrill to handle a dog we have bred ourselves and do well with them but the ultimate result is a Best in Show at an all breeds show which is such a thrill!! As usual Joey never put a foot wrong and was such a good boy!
Joey is from our "Chatternik" litter born January 2018 from Chatter and Nikki. The second day Joey was awarded Runner Up Best in Group and Best Bred By Exhibitor in Show. Our lovely Tuku was Challenge Bitch at both shows and was rewarded with a bone when we got home!!

17 May 2020
Lovely message from Wendy today regarding her puppy, Gem, who is from our Ditto - Bandit litter. Wendy says
"Hi Rosemary, just a few snaps for your of Gem and to let you know how well she has settled into life on the farm. She is full of fun and adventure and is an absolute delight and so much fun to have around.
She's had big paws to fill following on from Buddy but she's such a special little dog in her own right and is just awesome. She is so funny and so sharp, she never misses a trick. No such thing as isolation when you have such great company.
Thanks for breeding her and giving her such a good start. Wendy"

Email from Anthony today regarding Ruby turning 6 months old. Ruby was the only girl from our Taboo/Nikki litter:
"Hi Rosemary, Being that Ruby turned six months old today I thought I'd send you a couple of updated photos. She never sits still on command for photos but these are probably the best of a bad bunch. She's beautiful and everyone just loves her. Stubborn as a mule still but she's pretty well behaved I must say. Although she's probably getting too used to being inside during the day since I started working from home but she's a wonderful distraction. Cheers Anthony"

Love the pic of Koopa with his head tilted. Koopa is Taboo's brother and lives with Ron and a couple of Siberian huskies.
1 May
Spud is from our Herc/Holly litter and lives with Jasmine and her husband and baby, Blayke. Spud is the most gentle of dogs with Blayke as these pics show.

Received this lovely email from Tracy whose son bought a ridgeless puppy from our most recent Bling/Barry litter:
"Hi Rosemary, I have to let you know how very impressed we are with Tikka.
She has only been with us for a couple of days but we can already see what an awesome dog she is going to be. Jake and Georgina adore her and she follows them around and comes to them when they call her - I think she already knows her name. She is already letting them know when she wants to toilet and there have been, amazingly, no accidents so far. She has a very lovely personality and she is just lovely to look at. I am amazed at how confident she is so soon after leaving her Mum and siblings. Unfortunately, for my husband and I, she is not spending much time with us, but we are allowed the occasional cuddle haha. She is socialising nicely with our dog Kadbri, but I think Kadbri would like to spend more time with Tikka as well.
I know we are all going to miss her when the kids buy their own home, although Tikka will still visit and we will look after her if they go away from time to time. Consequently, I would like to ask if we could please have another one of your female puppies for ourselves. Perhaps you could consider us for the next litter or the one after? We actually love Tikka's ridgelessness. She is a lovely colour as well and the black snout and black eyebrows, gorgeous!
Very kind regards, Tracy"

Received this email and photos today. Ziva was a litter sister to our Minty and was from our Herc - Ripple litter born New Year's Day 2007:
"Dearest Rosemary, We hope you are all well. Especially during these times x It is with such a heavy heart that our darling girl Ziva has gone to eternal rest. It has taken us months to even write to you. Our dear girl passed on Sat 5 Oct 2019. Dearly loved and dearly missed. Such a beautiful, caring soul whom the kids adored.
Thank you for providing such a wonderful girl to have in our lives. Longest Ridgie we have had between 2 families x Let us know about upcoming litters - like Ziva & Minty.
Warmest Wishes Marco & Alexis and family"

More "TessNik" news from Mel and her family who have Pablo:
"Happy 1st Birthday ?? everyone ??
Pablo has already had a vegemite ice block and we are waiting for his new "friends" to arrive in the mail because he gets so excited about stuffed toys it makes up for the fact that they are lovingly destroyed.
We hope you are all hanging out together safely and enjoying how happy our 1 year olds are to have everyone home so much at the moment "

23 March
Received this very sad email yesterday. Gracie was from our Herc/Holly litter and so is a litter sister to our Tuku.
"Hi Rosemary, I am heartbroken to share with you that Grace passed away yesterday. We got home at 8.30PM last night and found her on the grass outside our bedroom - she had been bitten by a snake some time in the afternoon (we had been home at lunchtime and all was well).
We have been on our property for 18 years, and until last year had never lost a dog to a snakebite. We have now lost 2 beautiful little RR girls in a space of 13 months. We are devastated. We haven't seen a snake this year, but they are obviously out there.
"Crazy-Gracie" was a loving, playful, adventurous, athletic, couch/bedding-chewing, intelligent, sensitive little soul. We have loved her dearly, as have our old boy Stryker and young sister Sont'ho. Stryker is in mourning (he watched Thembi die, so I think he remembers that and knows what it means). Sont'ho hasn't really realised yet, but as she and Gracie played all day, every day, so she will miss Gracie dearly. She could run like the wind, swim laps across the dam, jump over gates. She loved to run alongside the motorbike. She couldn't get close enough to you for a cuddle.
She had the softest silkiest coat. We called her "Grace" because she rescued us from our sorrow when we lost Thembi. It is such a terrible irony that she has now been taken from us in the same circumstances. She was only 15 months old. Here are a few photos.
Regards Lesley"

In Perth, Stephen and Ranger pulled off a big Best of Breed award at the 2020 Western Classic show. Well done Stephen and Ranger!! At the end of 2019, as usual, Dogzonline send certificates to the pointscore winners and Stephen and Ranger were No. 1 RR in Western Australia and Ranger was also on the front cover of the monthly Dogs West journal.
7/8 February
This weekend Julie took Sascha, Samara and Tikki to Allora KC show with good results. Sascha was awarded Challenge Dog x 2 and 1 x Best of Breed. These points have given him enough for his Australian Champion title. Woo hoo!!! Samara gained 1 x Challenge Bitch and Tikki was Best Neuter in Group the first day and R/U the second day.
I had a lovely weekend judging at Bermagui in southern coastal New South Wales. Sad to drive through Cobargo which was badly affected by the fires last month but it will recover and the locals are very resilient. Bermagui is such a pretty place situated right on the coast.

I didn't show her at the second show but at the last show she was Challenge Bitch, Best Junior In Group and R/U BOB to Sascha. Julie handled Sascha to 3 x Dog Challenge awards and 2 x Best of Breed including a short list for Best in Group at the last show. Tikki was Best Neuter of Breed at all 3 shows!!
Also this weekend in Perth, Stephen and Ranger pulled off 2 x Dog Challenge and 2 x R/U BOB awards.
Both litters continue to grow so quickly are so lovely to play with. They will be going to their new homes soon and I am sure they will give their new families many years of entertainment!
