16/17 November
I had a lovely weekend judging gundogs and hounds in New Zealand. On 16th I had an entry of 120 hounds and my Best in Group went to a lovely standard longhaired dachshund who went on to win Best in Show.
On the 17th my Best in Group from 180 gundogs was a beautiful American Cocker Spaniel who then went on to win Best in Show so I was very happy with my result from both days. We were taken for a tour of Christchurch the day we left and the resilience of the locals is a real credit to them.
There are still many buildings which have to be demolished but business are operating in the heart of the city and shops have sprung up using shipping containers which have been painted bright, vibrant colors.
9/10/11 November
We went to a 3 day weekend of shows at Murwillumbah and had a great time socially and in the show ring. On the first day Trio and I went BEST IN SHOW and Kali was awarded 1st place in an all breeds Baby Puppy Sweepstakes class with 27 entries! On 10th, Trio was awarded BEST IN GROUP again and Best Open in Show and Kali was 3rd in the Sweepstakes class and on the 11th, Trio was BEST IN GROUP and RUNNER UP BEST IN SHOW and Kali was 3rd again in the Sweepstakes class.

June 2012
News & Updates
|
23 June
Image was awarded Challenge Bitch today at Woodford. She was the youngest bitch entered so I was very happy. She behaved quite well although she was a little unsettled in the ring but as she has only been shown a few times and I am confident she will get better and better. Trio went BOB but did not go any further.
|
22 June
Had a lovely day at Rosewood Show today. Clear and sunny, glass of wine and nibblies with lovely people and to top it off. I took Herc in the Veteran's Sweepstakes (for any breed) and he won! He has not been in the show ring for about 2 years but he had a ball and bounced round the ring like a puppy with his tail wagging all the time.
He is such a sweet dog. Trio then took out Group 1 (Best In Hound Group) and my young girl from Crisp and Barron, Image, was challenge bitch.
|
14 June
Enya has her litter of babies today. Given she was obviously having a big litter and we had used precious frozen semen, I did not want to run the risk of losing any during a natural birth so we decided to have an elective caesarean.
She produced 11 healthy babies - thanks so much to the expertise of Dr Phil Thomas at the Queensland Veterinary Specialists in Brisbane.
|
9 June
At the Rhodesian Ridgeback Show in Brisbane, Trio was awarded 2nd in the Open Dog Class, Minty was 2nd in the Open Bitch Class but Jake won the Junior Dog Class, was awarded Challenge Dog and then went on to Runner Up Best in Show! He also won the Best Head Dog class. Well done Emma and Jake!
|
3 June
Congratulations to Karen and Ruby who were awarded Challenge Bitch, Runner Up Best of Breed and Best Puppy in the Hound Group. Way to go girls!!
|
2nd June
Trio does it again and was awarded BEST IN SHOW again today. That is his 23rd award and he followed it up with a RUNNER UP BEST IN SHOW the following day.
Woo hoo Trio takes another BEST IN SHOW which makes his total 23. The world record is 27 so we are getting closer!! The following day he was awarded Runner Up Best in Show. Way to go Trio and Emma.
|
1 June
Whisper went Best of Breed today and that gave her the final few points she needed to become a Grand Champion! She is the third Herc daughter to gain the title of Grand Champion. I am very proud of her. She will only be shown at Specialty shows and maybe other major shows occasionally and she will have her final litter later this year which we look forward to.
1 June
Enya looking fit and well with only 2 weeks to go.

Esk Show today and Emma with Jake were awarded BEST IN HOUND GROUP and then BEST IN SHOW!! Jake is only 16 months of age but he really caught the eye of the judge.
Jake surprises us all and is awarded BEST IN SHOW at Esk today! He is a lovely dog and draws lots of positive comments wherever he goes. He will only get better and better as he matures and it is lovely that he is a half brother to Trio. Very proud of both boys!

26 April
I received this email from Canberra today from Lemi who owns Saski. Saski (Chilolo CBA Saski's Image) is a litter sister to the two Ruby's and my Image:
Hi Rosemary
Saski (with Belinda handling) managed Best of Breed with 11 points at the Hound Club of the ACT show over the Anzac Day Cluster. Judge Sandra Mashford (Vic) was extremely good to me in the Class 3A pointing out that the exhibitor had been a little put off, waiting for the penny to drop that I was the exhibitor and not Saski (that's me learning) and a little relieved when I laughed and said that's why I sending in someone who knows what they are doing when there are other dogs in the ring. It all seemed to work well that way. Similarly in sweeps next day - while there is lot to learn in handling, Saski is moving/learning faster than me and friendly advice is that I have a good dog. Helen and Belinda have been more than helpful here. As an extra bonus winning the Raffle means that I do have to show Saski again and put winnings back into the system.
21 April
In Holland, Leon and Ruby took out 2nd place in their class with a lovely critique from Ms C Davis (UK).
In Canberra, Ruby's sister, Saski (Chilolo CBA Saski's Image) took out Best of Breed at the Hound Club of the ACT which was very exciting for Lemi, her owner.
Thanks to Belinda Mitchell for helping out with the handling. Congratulations to all concerned at both shows - we are very proud of you.

17 April
Today in Belgium, Ruby (Chilolo Image of Fire Red Ruby) and Leon did a really excellent job at her first International dog show.
Ruby was entered in the youth class with 3 other females and she won her class with 1 excellent!.
Then she beat 8 other males to be Best Junior and gain the title " Brabo Junior Winster 2012 " . Well done Leon and Ruby!!

2011 in review
Best do the downs first. It was with great sadness that we saw the passing of 4 of our lovely dogs during the year. Cagn (Chilolo WD Cagn of the Wind) a very promising young dog co-owned with Derek Rankin and Katherine Aland, sadly passed away in December far too young. Our sincere condolences go to Derek and Katherine. Our 2 liver noses, Bandit and Becky left us in August. Bandit was 13 ½ years of age and Becky was 12. We miss them both. Also our gorgeous boy Chukkie (Ch Chilolo Alaska Blue) who lived with the Rudolph family passed over the rainbow bridge on 5th September and has left a big gap in the family. We will be using Chukkie semen this year.
Highlights of the year: Trio and Emma ended the year as:
National Number 13 All Breeds
National Number 2 Hound
National Number 1 Ridgeback for the second year
Trio won a total of 12 Best in Show awards which is amazing for a ridgeback and has never been done before in Australia. One of his highlights was being awarded Best in Show at the New South Wales Hound Club. We had 2 very exciting litters by imported American semen incorporating some of the most successful bloodlines in the US. We kept Image (Chilolo CBA Burning Image) a girl from Crisp and Barron (Am Ch Images In The Woods of Reddawg). We also wanted a girl from Shala and the stunning liver dog Am Ch Wyndrunhr Sunhawk Of Course, but unfortunately there was not a suitable girl in the litter so we will wait until we use his semen again this year. We have co-owned one beautiful male puppy, Ace (Chilolo SHHA Sharp Shooter) with Sam Howard and Alecia Marie Senior in Brisbane. Ace has already won Best Baby Puppy in Show and has a wonderful laid back temperament.
Overseas - we sent a very promising girl, Ruby (Chilolo Image of Fire Red Ruby - sister to our Image) to Leon and Ilse in Holland and we wish them the very best of luck with her in the years to come. And in the UK, our old boy, Sam (BIS/BISS Aust/Eng Ch Chilolo CJ Someday Sam) has been announced as Leading RR Sire for the third time. Sam turns 10 years of age this year and is a fantastic ambassador for the breed. We are very proud of him.
Other highlights include my fabulous trip overseas in October, November, December which included judging the Rhodesian Ridgeback Club Show in Scotland and a variety of hound breeds in France -both appointments I consider a privilege. I was lucky enough to be invited to have lunch at the UK Kennel Club in London and also to go hunting for a day in southern England. I then met up with Emma in Johannesburg and we had a fantastic 10 days in South Africa and with my cousin in Zimbabwe. We have met some lovely people both in Australia and overseas - people who have given our puppies wonderful homes and we hope these relationships continue for years to come.
Now it is head first into 2012 and already Trio has taken out 2 x Best In Group awards and a Runner Up Best in Show. Ace has won Best Baby Puppy in Show and Image has taken out Challenge Bitch and Runner Up Best of Breed at the tender age of 6.5 months. I have several judging appointments through the year which I am looking forward to so hopefully it will be an exciting year for us and for all of our friends.
